I'm A Citizen Of The Internet

The Internet is a great place for creativity but a corporate takeover threatens this creativity

Hey everyone! It's ARandomInternetUser! Today I'm going to talk about why I'm a citizen of the Internet. I honestly think the Internet is a great place for the most part. But because of corporate takeover, we now have a thing called Web3. We have horrible social medias like Twitter, and the creativity that the Internet was once all about has been hidden and a certain group of Internet users know the joy of having your own website that you can decide the design and what it is. On the podcast "Software Sessions", Jeremy Jung (show host) has a conversation with Kyle Drake (creator of Neocities) about Web 1.0 and how Neocities is trying to bring back the creativity of Web 1.0 and making it better (Episode Link). Kyle Drake talks about how social medias like Facebook or Twitter are like apartments in where it doesn't have a lot of creativity but everything is already made for you. But with Neocities it's like you have an empty piece of land. Sure you have to work to make it have the basic functionality like food and water but when you have done, you can do anything with it. But with the social medias and apartments, the work is done with you but you can't be as creative as you can with the empty piece of land or Neocities. I love the Internet because its a library full of knowledge and it helps people express themselves in a way before wasn't possible. I am not just a citizen of Earth but a citizen of the Internet. Sorry this article took so long to be released school is almost out and exams are tough so I have a lot of studying to do. During the summer, I can release a lot more articles. Bye!
